The Pensacola Historical Museum, originally built in 1882 as the Gulf Saloon, has permanent exhibits revolving around major themes running through time: Maritime History, Multicultural Heritage, Military History, and Native Americans. Among the stories found in the exhibits are the forts, soldiers, timber harvesting, ship-building, and many others. The museum strives to represent the city’s multicultural heritage, which covers the many ethnic groups whose contributions helped establish and maintain the growth of Pensacola. Temporary exhibits are feayured on the first floor and revolve two or three times a year.
