The Pensacola Historic Preservation Society was founded in 1960 and is the oldest historic preservation agency in West Florida.  The purpose of the Society is to acquire, preserve, and foster an interest in historic preservation as well as local history.  During the first decade of the Society, the organization led efforts to acquire, to lobby, and to assist in saving buildings such as the Julee Panton Cottage, the Moreno Cottage, the Dorothy Walton House, the Manuel Gonzalez home, and the Quina house.  With the creation of the Historic Preservation Board, a state agency, most of these structures became part of the Historic Pensacola Village.  The Society commissioned and erected the bronze bust of Andrew Jackson in Seville Square.

Today the Society is a membership organization, providing a monthly newsletter and sponsoring monthly meetings, which cover a range of historic topics.  The Society also maintains the Quina House, Pensacola's oldest home on its original site.
