The Pensacola Archaeological Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging public awareness of the threat to Pensacola’s historic sites.  Established to educate the general public about the value of these sites, the society works with archaeologists, governmental officials, private citizens, and developers to protect and preserve Pensacola’s invaluable archaeological resources that contribute to a better understanding of the city’s rich cultural heritage.

The Pensacola Archaeological Society offers opportunities to participate in and learn about archaeology outside of the classroom environment.  PAS volunteers regularly assist with UWF Archaeology Institute projects and get a “hands on” experience with many aspects of archaeological excavation and preservation.  Also, lectures and presentations pertaining to archaeological work in Pensacola and surrounding areas are presented at each monthly meeting from September through June, providing fascinating and informative information about the work being done.
