The Civil War Soldiers Museum, founded in 1991, exhibits the private collection of Dr. Norman W. Haines, Jr., a local physician.  Dr. Haines began collecting as a boy near the Antietam Battlefield, and now his collection encompasses a wide variety of period artifacts, including one of the largest collections of Civil War medical items in existence.  The Pensacola Room highlights the contributions of Stephen R. Mallory, a local citizen who served as the Confederate Secretary of Navy during the war, and the handmade First National Confederate flag captured by Wilson’s New York Zouaves during the Battle of Santa Rosa Island, October 9, 1981.
