In 1990 it absorbed Business Conditions Digest 1978-1989, (U.S. Doc. C 59.9).

Electronic Databanks in Business

    Databanks are collections of databases which are usually searchable by the same strategies. The databanks listed below are only available to UWF students, faculty and staff for class purposes. Databanks that require a librarian sign on must be reserved in advance since access may be limited to only one password. Contact the Reference Desk (474-2424) for reservations. Most databank articles can be downloaded or emailed at no cost or printed for 15 or 20 cents a page at the UWF Library Reference Desk. AICPA reSOURCE
This website contains full text sources relating to AICPA and FASB standards. It is available to UWF students and faculty, only to one user at time, only in the UWF Library, and a librarian must enter a password.


CCH Internet Tax Research
This comprehensive tax database includes full text legal documents as well as explanatory data relating to taxation. Limited to only two simultaneous users


DataStar
Restricted to UWF students and faculty, this databank emphasizes international databases. Students must be trained in its use. Access is through the Internet, but a password must be entered by a librarian. Reservations to use this databank must be made in advance at the UWF Reference Desk.


Dialog
This databank contains many databases which are referenced above. It is restricted to UWF students and faculty who have been trained to search Dialog. Because this is charged to the library according to an hourly rate, other sources should be exhausted before this is searched. Access is through the Internet, but a password must be entered by a librarian. Reservations to use this must be made in advance at the UWF Reference Desk.


Factiva
Containing full text files of hundreds of business journals, including the Wall Street Journal, this databank is an excellent source for company and industry information as well as general business news. Limited to three simultaneous users, access is available from any on-campus computer or to UWF students and faculty by remote access.


FirstSearch
Available through the WebLUIS connection, a few important business databases are available, some with full text articles. No restrictions to its use, this should be one of the first sources searched for articles in business. Contains:  Business Dateline 1985+,  Business Organizations, Agencies and Publications Directory,  and  FactSearch  1984+.


Gale Business and Company Resource Center
After searching by company name this database gives access to financial information, articles, rankings, industry reports, investment reports, histories, and trade associations.


Gale's Ready Reference Shelf
This database allows the searcher to identify databases, publications, associations and research centers that relate to a subject.

Investext Plus (InfoTrac)
This massive collection of investment and market research reports is useful in analyzing companies and industries.


Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe
This vast library of resources is one of several that are produced by Lexis-Nexis. Also available are Congressional Universe and Statistical Universe which offer legislative and statistical sources in full text. A large library of business publications, legal sources and a vast number of full text business periodicals are included.


Mergent Online
Famous for its records of stock performances of publicly held companies, Mergent (formerly Moody's) Online; provides ten years of data for each company in this database. Historical files are on microfiche back to 1928.


National Trade Data Bank (STAT-USA)
A comprehensive database from the U.S. Department of Commerce with more than 50 programs which provide economic and statistical information in the areas of U.S. foreign and international trade. Only one user is permitted at one time.


ProQuest
The Proquest Databank includes access to   ABI/Inform Global  1971+,  ABI Inform DatelineABI/Inform Trade & IndustryHoover's Company Information  2000+, and  Wall Street Journal  1984+.  It contains full text content, pdf images, and excellent searching capabilities.


RDS
This databank includes Business and Industry  1994+ and  TableBase (index to statistical tables.) It provides a unique menu type search engine.


Standard and Poor's NetAdvantage
An online collection of the major investment publications of Standard and Poor's. Of special interest are the Industry Survey sections, but significant current investment and financial data are available for companies as well.


Westlaw Campus
This databank includes files of legal sources on the state and federal levels as well as a large library of full text law reviews. Specialized files in tax law, etc. are also included. The use of this databank is restricted to UWF students and faculty.


Zack's Investment Research or  http://my.zacks.com
Provides current data for over 9000 publicly held companies. Access is free.
