Econlit
Econlit indexes over 300 scholarly economic journals, economic papers and monographs. It includes the index section of the Journal of Economic Literature and the annual.

This is a classified list, with author index, for English-language articles in major professional economic journals and in collective volumes. Volumes are very slowly published. It is updated by Econlit.

Journal of Economic Literature. 1969-1999, 2002-. (Serials HB 1 J6)
[JSTOR 1969-2003]
This very useful bibliographic quarterly includes: an annotated list of new books, classified by subject; a subject index of articles in current periodicals; selected abstracts of the more significant articles, by subject; and tables of contents for current economics journals. Critical book reviews are at the beginning of each issue. The most recent three years are retained in temporary binders with the bound volumes. See also Econlit.


Public Affairs Information Service (PAIS), 1972-current
PAIS indexes public policy literature in business, economics, law and other social studies. Includes book chapters, articles and government documents. For print indices covering 1915 through 1972 see: REF H 1 .P94.

Alphabetically arranged essays provide in-depth discussions of economists, terms, processes, etc. in the fields relating to business cycle theories


Dictionary of Economics. 1997. (Ref. HB 61 B554)

Encyclopedia of American Economic History. 1980. (Ref. HC 103 E52)
Subtitled "studies of the principal movements and ideas," this three volume set presents essays on a number of aspects of the American economic experience.


Encyclopedia of Political Economy. 1999. (Ref. HB 61 E554) & Emerald Coast Library
A two volume set that tries to bridge differences within the discipline of economics by covering many areas of economics using clear understandable entries.


Gale Encyclopedia of U.S. Economic History. 1999. (Ref. HC 102 G35)
Two volumes of alphabetically arranged articles offer definitions, biographies, economic terms, economic historical events, and company and industry histories.


New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics and the Law. 1998. (Ref. KF 156 N48)
This multi volume set dealing mainly with theoretical and applied aspects of economics includes biographical information on more than 700 economists. There are multiple entries, under similar titles to insure a variety of views.

This work provides biographical information on over 1,000 living and deceased economists and a list of each economist's publications.

Consumer Expenditure Survey

This Bureau fo the Census monthly publication presents data on employment, number and employment size of reporting units, and taxable payrolls by industry groups for private non-farm activities. Some parts are archived on microfilm.

Conducted approximately every 5 years. Bureau of the Census statistics on retail trade, wholesale trade, service industries, transportation, and manufactures as well as zip code statistics on retail trade and service industries. 1992, 1997 and 2002 data available via the Economic Census website. Volumes containing data for Florida from earlier years are retained in the U.S. Documents collection in the Pace Library at: Census of Manufactures (C 3.24:), Census of Business (C 3.202/5:), Census of Transportation (U.S. Doc. Economic Indicators

Produced monthly byt the Council of Economic Advisors for the use of the Joint Economic Committee, these statistical tables and charts for the basic U.S. economic indicators include total output, income and spending; employment, unemployment and wages; production and business activity; prices; money, credit and security markets; and federal finance. Statistics in each issue are usually quoted annually for about 6 years and monthly for the past year.


Economic Report of the President Transmitted to Congress

This report is a statement of presidential domestic policy accompanied by supporting statistical information from the Council of Economic Advisors.

Federal Reserve Bulletin

Published by the U.S. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve system, this is the best single source for current U.S. banking and monetary statistics. It includes some international financial statistics, basic business statistics such as construction, employment, prices, national income, and the well-known Federal Reserve Board's index of industrial production.

Provides extensive charts on who spends how much on what in the United States


Inter-University Consortium for Political & Social Research  (ICPSR)
The ICPSR, established at the University of Michigan, maintains and provides access to a vast archive of over 45,000 social science-related surveys, studies, and datasets for research and instruction. Datasets may be downloaded from this site for use in research and instruction. Economics and public policy topics are among those covered in this resource. Those needing assistance interpreting and analyzing the data should seek assistance at the UWF Statistics Center (850-474-2790), located in Building 39, Room 129 of UWF's main campus.

An annual publication presenting data by industry, and giving assets liabilities, etc. by size of company


Statistical Handbook on Consumption and Wealth in the United States. 1999. (Ref. HC 110 C6 S73 1999)
Provides users a systematic statistical portrait of wealth and consumption.


Survey of Current Business
1921-1980 (Microfilm 465), 1981- (U.S. Doc. C 59.11:) & 1994- (http://www.bea.gov/bea/pubs.htm)
This is the most important single source for current business statistics. Published monthly, it covers general business indicators, commodity prices, construction and real estate, employment and earnings, etc. Special statistical reports appear at intervals. In 1990 it absorbed Business Conditions Digest (U.S. Doc. C 59.9:).


Treasury Bulletin
1969-1986 (U.S. Doc. T 1.3:), 1987-2000 (U.S. Doc., & U.S. Doc. Microfiche T 63.103/2:) & 1996- (http://fms.treas.gov/bulletin/index.html)
Published quarterly, includes financial operations, budget receipts, expenditures, debt, cash transactions, rates of interest on "T-bills," etc. of the U.S. government
