Articles are different than books. They are reports that are published in newspapers, magazines, and journals. While books are found through the library catalog, articles are not. Articles can be found through databases.
Databases are huge collections of articles that are online. Some databases will have full-text, or complete text of an article. Others will give only citations, which is an article's title, author, and publication information.
UWF Libraries offer hundreds of databases ranging many subject areas. Here are some steps in selecting a database:
1. From the UWF Library home page, click the link Journal Articles & Online Databases.
2. Next, click Find Database to select a database from the alphabetical listing. Click on the letter I, for example, to retrieve the list of all databases whose title begins with this letter.
3. If you do not know which database to select, you can select databases by subject categories, or search a number of databases using QuickSearch or Metasearch.
Reminder: Journals are also available in print and microform formats. These be found in UWF Library Catalog by searching for the journal by title.
